Triratna 50 video
The Dublin Buddhist Centre asked me to produce a video celebrating 50 years of the Triratna Buddhist order. Essentially it was to be a ‘happy birthday’ video from the Dublin centre to the HQ. For inspiration I looked to the incredible sand mandalas created by Tibetan Buddhist monks which were famous for representing impermanence, a key Buddhist teaching.
I sought to create a DBC version of this mandala, using the colours and design of a traditional mandala but also incorporating the materials and elements so familiar to visitors to the centre. This meant chocolate biscuits and teabags, as well as tealight candles, fresh flowers, incense sticks and origami cranes. It took six of us two hours to create it and the resulting mandala was beautiful, until it was destroyed minutes later in the traditional fashion.
I also worked with this registered charity at the end of 2016 when they faced a shortfall in funding and potential layoff of staff. I employed social advertising to sell out their scheduled courses, used audience research and landing page optimisation to better market and sell out their retreats, and created a Gift Voucher campaign to drive revenue. The result was they finished the year in the black.
“I worked with Aileen on our marketing, social media presence, web and analytics, and was deeply impressed with her knowledge. One of her particular strengths is she can see how best to write copy, use images, and lay out web pages. Allied to this is a sense of fun and creativity, from both working with her, and also how she communicates with customers. I highly recommend Aileen to work with.”
